THE CAMPSITE:

The campsite is located next to a working farm amongst the woodland, a short walk from the Mawddach Estuary. This is a rustic campsite with three main camping meadows where you can find your own pitch amongst the un-mowed long grass.

The main farmhouse and campsite facilities are a 3-4 minute walk up the driveway which winds up through the woodland to the washing facilities. Dotted along the driveway in the woods are bookable, private campsite pitches which can fit a car/camper van and small-medium sized tent on a gravel pitch.

Also available are woodland tent pitches where you park your car at the farmhouse and use wheelbarrows (provided) to move your camping equipment into the woodland to pitch in the trees.

FACILITIES:

  • Non-electric grass camping meadows.
  • Non-electric woodland pitches without vehicle access.
  • Non-electric woodland/gravel pitches with a vehicle access.
  • Bunkhouse: Sleeps 12 people in 4 bedrooms with bunkbeds.

Central toilet block with 3 unisex showers (free and hot water depending on time of day), 2 wash basins, 6 unisex toilets and 2 washing up sinks.

Freshly cooked Thai food is cooked onsite and available to be delivered to your pitch from the campsite owners. Approx £10 per dish.

NEARBY:

The campsite has a footpath that leads directly out onto the Mawddach Estuary within just 5 minutes. You can walk, cycle or even paddle to the historical market town of Dolgellau, the coastal village of Fairbourne and the town of Barmouth. The local hotel and pub George Third is only 30 minute walk down the Mawddach Trail and you can loop back to the campsite through Coed Abergwynant Woods where you can also take a cooling dip in the 'fairy pools'.

WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:

We camped in the meadow fields which meant a 3-4 minute walk up the fairly steep driveway to the toilet and shower facilities at the farmhouse. There is no drinking water tap at the camping field so again, we had to carry our water containers up and down the driveway. There is also no mobile phone reception or 4G in this area - not the fault of the campsite, but good to note! You cannot book directly with the campsite on their website - fill out an enquiry form and the friendly owner will contact you - or available to book on Pichup.com

WHAT WE LIKED:

You are mainly paying for the location here. The access onto the MawddachTrail from the campsite is a real bonus and definitely one to bring your bikes along for so you can travel the full trail. Easy access to the Snowdonia National Park for walking, hiking and biking, and 10 minutes drive from Dolgellau.
