A short walk from Lake Ullswater, and in the charming town of Glenridding, this campsite has spectacular views and access right onto walking paths for Helvellyn.

THE CAMPSITE:

Located on a family-run farm, this large campsite has hard standing areas for motor homes and caravans with electric hook up, or three, large tiered fields for tents and campervans with non-electric pitches. You can find your own pitch on the largely flat fields, or you can grab a spot on the edge of a stream that runs down into town.

There is a walking path from the campsite that takes you directly downhill into Glenridding town where you'll find cafes, a small selection of shops and restaurants.

FACILITIES:

The campsite has male and female bathrooms with toilets and showers (20p for a hot shower which lasted ages), washing up facilities and water points across the campsite. There is also a bunkhouse on site that can be booked.

NEARBY:

The campsite is located right next to Helvellyn and Striding Edge for hiking. You can park lake-side and access Lake Ullswater for paddle boarding, canoeing or for a tourist boat ride. Aira Force Waterfall and its National Trust car parks are a five minute drive away and definitely worth a visit.

Glenridding is a five-minute walk from the campsite, as is the nearest pub The Traveller's Rest, which serves great pub food and local ales - you can't reserve a table and there is no on-site parking.

WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:

Nothing - one of our best campsite finds in recent years, we will definitely be returning.

WHAT WE LIKED:

The location and spectacular views are second-to-none. This area of the Lake District is definitely quieter than the more popular regions like Windermere and Bowness. Great for hiking, walking, water sports or just chilling.
