THE CAMPSITE:

This is an informal campsite set on a working farm with a find-your-own pitch approach. Even when fully booked over the May Bank holiday weekend, the campsite didn't feel full or overly busy so the owners obviously keep the visitor numbers to a decent level for comfort. The non-electric camping field is largely flat with wonderful views of the surrounding hills. The toilet facilities are a short walk away and wooden picnic tables are available to use if you can get one.

FACILITIES:

Non-electric grass camping field with picnic tables and drinking water.

EHU pitches are nicely located on your choice of grass or gravel terraces for campervans, motorhomes or tents and are located around the campsite, again these are find-your-own pitch.

Central toilet block with male and female showers (2 showers in each, free and hot water), a family shower room, 6 toilets including one disabled toilet with shower, 2 washing up sinks, laundry room and a cabin containing fridge-freezers and tourist information leaflets.

There is free WiFi on the campsite supplied by Camping Connect network. Chemical disposal is also available.

NEARBY:

The campsite is situated 3 miles from Machynlleth. The nearest beach is Aberdyfi, a fifteen minutes drive. Cader Idris mountain is easily accessible from here too.

Dyfi Bike Park is only a ten mintue drive away so the campsite is a popular base for downhill and mountain bikers.

We did a one hour walk directly from the campsite, through farm fields to the nearby river and then went back to the local pub Glan Yr Afon in Pennal with a sunny beer garden and good food.

The Tal y Llyn viewing point for the mach loop is a 20 minute drive from the campsite.

WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:

Not much. The campsite and facilities are very good, but we did find that you had to drive to visit most local activities and attractions instead of being within easy walking distance.

WHAT WE LIKED:

Great location for Dyfi Bike Park and Cader Idris for mountain biking. Clean facilities and a stunning location. We always like a find-your-own-pitch approach and the owner will lend you a 'reserved' sign so you don't lose your camping pitch if you leave the site in your campervan.
